Some 50,000 non-teaching staff of the Department of Education are finally eligible to receive a performance-based bonus they have clamored for since last year, a union leader said Tuesday.

The bonus, amounting from P20,000 to P50,000 was previously exclusive to teachers.

The DepEd management agreed to grant the bonus to its non-teaching staff, but was still ironing out guidelines on the benefit’s release, said Atty. Domingo Alidon, president of the DepEd National Employees’ Union.

The management also scrapped the service fee charged to employees, which is equivalent to 0.5 percent of their salary, he told reporters.
