#WalangPasok: The President Rodrigo Duterte declares August 12 Monday a holiday for Eid al-Adha its will be a long weekend ahead.
MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte has declared August 12, Monday, as a holiday in observance of Eid al-Adha or the Muslim Feast of Sacrifice.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea confirmed this to reporters.
There was no immediate detail on whether the date will be a regular or special non-working holiday.
The official document will be released before noon, said Medialdea.
Eid al-Adha commemorates the sacrifice made by Abraham in obedience to Allah’s command.
This major festival is celebrated by a pilgrimage in Mecca, Islam’s holiest city, sacrificing an animal, having a feast with family and relatives, and performing an act of charity to the needy.
